It’s been causing intense debate online: what is the colour of that dress?
Some people see it as white and gold, while others just as clearly claim it’s instead blue and black.
Now scientists at the University of Oxford have confirmed that both groups are wrong. The dress is in fact pink and black.
“It’s a simple optical illusion,” said Professor Sarah Weathers, an expert in visual neuroscience. “Because the dress is lit in a certain way, some people see white and gold while others see blue and black. But they’re both wrong.”
“It’s in fact pink and black, as you can clearly see when you show it against a white background.”
