Police are investigating an incident which occurred this afternoon when an innocent man was apparently set upon by the Prime Minister outside Leeds Civic Hall.
Video footage taken by a bystander clearly shows the Prime Minister making contact with the man as he attempted to run away. A member of Mr Cameron’s security team then intervened, helping the man away as the Prime Minister was bundled into a waiting security vehicle.
The Prime Minister is believed to have traveled to Leeds with the intention of launching government plans to upgrade rail links in the north of England. Concerned local residents are being assured that such a breach of security will not occur again during the remainder of his visit.
The man was clearly shaken by the encounter. “Before I knew it he was on top of me,” said Dean Balboa Farley. “He was pretending to be normal, but I could tell there was something odd about him. He started trying to talk to me about the deficit and how it was all somebody else’s fault. I was terrified!”
“What sort of country do we live in where an innocent man has to come face to face with their democratically elected leader?” he continued. “Why couldn’t he just keep his distance and inflict damage from afar by dismantling the NHS and the welfare system like normal?”
Downing Street explained the incident by insisting that Cameron mistook the man for a wealthy media proprietor, and reassured the general public that the chances of ever entering into a conversation with the Prime Minister were “extremely rare”.
