Sci-fi fans across the world are celebrating the inspired casting choices for the new Star Wars films. The same pixels that gave life to beloved characters such as Jar Jar Binks and Slapstick Robot #3 from the prequel trilogy will all be making a return for the forthcoming movies.
Writer and Director J. J. Abrams, whose other works include ‘Lens-Flare’ and ‘Nonsense’, explained that the film’s budget would be spent entirely on pixels. “I wanted to keep an air of continuity throughout. The fans are used to green-screen CGI and pixels and it just felt natural to keep that element going.”
“Actors are just so unpredictable,” he added. “They keep changing, or ‘aging’ as they call it, and you never quite get what you want. Also, lot of them have complained to me in the past about working with green-screen technology – so it seemed more sensible to get rid of them entirely. With pixels, you know exactly what you’re getting!”
Though yet to be confirmed, there are rumours that Apple’s iMac will be heavily involved in the development of the movies.
